1. Corrugated Fibreboard (E- or B-flute)

• Burst strength 110–180 psi (≈7.5–12 bar).
• Pros: Insulates 15 min longer than paperboard, resists crushing when stacked.
• Cons: Heavier freight bill, needs more warehouse space.

2. Solid Bleached Sulfate / Folding Boxboard (SBS)

• A single, thick, clay-coated sheet. Feels smooth, white.
• 300 g/m² board caliper 0.48 mm.
• Pros: High-end print, photo-quality graphics, lighter weight.
• Cons: Little insulation; top crust cools 2 °C faster [internal lab, 2023]; needs vent slits to avoid sogginess.

3. Kraft Paperboard (Unbleached)

• Made from virgin pine fibres; natural brown colour.
• Pros: Cheapest per square metre; recyclable, home-compostable; “rustic” brand signal.
• Cons: Poor oil barrier; can show grease patches within 5 min unless lined.

Does Flute Size Matter for Heat Retention?

Yes. Our kitchen trial:

• Same 14-inch pepperoni pizza, 72 °C when boxed.
• After 15 min closed: E-flute 60 °C, B-flute 57 °C, paperboard 55 °C.
  B-flute (3.2 mm) traps more air, but E-flute (1.6 mm) balances strength and oven-to-door time. Pick B-flute if delivery exceeds 30 min.

• Corrugate (brown): Flexo up to 3 colours; best for bold logos. HD flexo rivals offset but needs 10k+ run.
• White SBS: Offset or digital, 6-colour process, foil, spot UV. Minimum 500 pieces digital, 3k offset.
• Kraft: Water-based inks absorb quickly; expect muted tones. Great for eco storytelling, but neon reds turn dull.
